How do we plan our class field trip?

Teacher FAQs

Attention Teachers!

Field trips are offered Monday-Friday - 9 am until 2 pm. by reservation only.

Please plan a minimum of 2 hours for your field trip.

Picnic tables are available for snacks or lunch.

We require 1 adult per 3-5 children on all field trips.  (There is no charge for for chaperones)  Siblings are welcome to attend with the class if school policy permits.  They will be charged the same fee as students and payment for these children is expected with the school payment.

The farm does offer bottled water for sale during field trips, but schools are encouraged to bring additional water to drink for both adults and children.  With lots of physical activity, it is normal to consume more liquids.

Reservations are required for field trips; please click here for on line booking. Space is limited, so please reserve a spot for your class today!  We will review your on line registration and send you a confirmation to make sure we have you on the schedule.

Attire:  Dress comfortably and in layers. The weather often goes from chilly in the morning to warm by mid-morning - and don't forget comfortable walking shoes.

Restrooms:  We have handicap portapotties located throughout the property with washing stations located next to each portapotty and the farm animals.  We recommend handwashing when leaving the farm animal area.

Safety issues: At Back Home on the Farm, extra efforts are taken to make sure that our guests will have a safe, enjoyable adventure.  Almost all of our activities are handicap accessible.  Safety rules are posted at  specific activities and chaperones are encouraged to read them at each station.

Back Home on the Farm is closed to the general public during field trip times so that schools may  enjoy a secure environment.  Whenever anyone enters the corn maze,  our employees will be in the crow's nest overlooking the maze and ready to assist in navigating the maze or answering questions.

We request that all chaperones have visitor name tags with the school identified on the tag.  Teachers should wear their official ID.  We find it most helpful if all students at least wear a tag that has their school and/or teacher name on it.
